Where does Republican Presidential Candidate Senator John McCain stand on the issue of protecting Whistleblowers?

Republican Presidential candidate Senator John McCain has made his stance on how government employees that perform their patriotic duty by exposing government corruption should be treated crystal clear. Senator McCain believes that instead of having the corrupt officials involved investigated, he should personally give them advance warning that honest government employees are requesting investigations.

When a constituent from his home state of Arizona sought McCain's assistance in having wide spread government corruption and waste investigated, advising him that political influence was being used to corrupt the federal judiciary as a means of covering up the corruption, Senator John McCain responded by "wishing" the Whistleblower "good luck", and then forwarding the information to the very politicians involved!

Is this what we can expect from "President" McCain? Is this an appropriate response?

If your car is stolen, would it be appropriate for the police to tell the thieves where you live? Apparently Presidential hopeful Senator John McCain thinks so.

If you called the police to report a crack-house in your neighborhood, would it be appropriate for the police to tell the drug dealers you reported them and then give them your name and address? Apparently Presidential hopeful Senator John McCain thinks so.
