Our unique fundraising strategy

Most large charitable organizations (and many small ones too) either have a staff of employees to solicit for donations, or hire outside companies to perform this service for them. Hiring a full time staff costs money. Professional fundraising companies charge a fee that is deducted from your donation, before it is turned over to the organization. These fees can be 25%, 30%, 35%, or more of what YOU donated.

To insure that the greatest portion of your donation is spent on what you intended it for (helping Whistleblowers), The First Whistleblower does not employ fundraising companies and accepts donations directely from YOU!

How are my donations used by The First Whistleblower?

The First Whistleblower is dedicated to ensuring that the greatest amount of your contributions are used for the purposes you intended, protecting and promoting the rights of Whistleblowers.

The chart to the left shows how your donations are intended to be distributed within those programs.

The allocation of funds between recipient programs and administrative costs is designed to meet or exceed the "use of funds" guidelines for charities set by the Better Business Bureau, the United Way, and the Internal Revenue Service.

These organizations recommend: (a) the cost of fundraising should not exceed 35% of contributions (our direct donation programs limit this to less than 15%); (b) at leats 50% of public contributions should be spent on programs and activities direclty related to the organizaiton's purpose (we have allocated 70%).
